HSE Manager

Job Title: HSE Manager Job Description Direct environmental, health, and safety initiatives across North American manufacturing locations, serving as the primary HSE owner for the Des Moines facility.

Function as the site's senior HSE authority, working closely with senior leaders and plant teams to strengthen safety performance and regulatory discipline.

Responsibilities * Maintain accountability for environmental and safety compliance programs, including air permitting, chemical reporting, waste management, worker safety regulations, and transportation-related requirements.

* Lead interactions with regulatory bodies at the local, state, and federal levels, overseeing inspections, compliance reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.

* Partner with engineering and operations teams to evaluate risk and provide HSE guidance for capital investments, automation upgrades, and new process or material introductions.

* Establish and grow the HSE function by recruiting and developing specialist talent while ensuring site-level programs align with broader enterprise standards.

Essential Skills * Experience in safety, EHS, health & safety, manufacturing, workers' compensation, and HSE.

* Proficiency in Title V and SAP.

* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field.

* 7+ years of progressive HSE experience within a manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environment, with 3+ years in a site-level or regional leadership role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications * Ability to define and implement HSE operations across Canada and the United States.

* Experience with executive visibility and direct reporting to the Business Unit Head.

* Capability to hire and shape a future HSE team, including two specialist roles.

* Proven track record in supporting major capex expansions focused on automation, environmental performance, and long-term sustainability.

Work Environment The role offers a balanced work schedule from Monday to Friday, with a realistic work week of 45-50 hours.

You will have a private office and spend time on the production floor, ensuring a hands-on approach to managing HSE operations.

This position provides an opportunity to collaborate with international teams while maintaining strong local autonomy within a stable, values-driven company.

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
