Description

The purpose of this position is to assist our highway department in seasonal work. Duties include patrolling state and county roads, flagging, road maintenance such as patching and janitorial shop work. This is a short-term position with anticipated start date of June 1. The position will work Monday-Thursday from 6:00am - 4:00pm.

Examples of Duties

Perform physical labor tasks such as hand shoveling material, raking topsoil, setting up road work signs, and running a string trimmer.

Erect signs and perform trash pickup and ditch cleaning.

Complete daily project timesheets.

Assist with cleaning of departmental facilities, including shops and storage yards.

Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal and public safety.

Responsible for personal safety at work and common-sense application of safety standards

Typical Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be able to apply understanding of rules, regulations, and guidelines in performance of job duties.

Requires the ability to understand and follow instructions.

High physical strength in order to perform manual labor.

Valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Physical Requirements

This job entails significant physical demands typically found in heavy industry or construction work, and with significant exposure to workplace hazards. Very frequent lifting, moving, bending, twisting, etc and standing for ong periods of time.

Work Environment

Position will require use of specialized clothing or use of common personal protective equipment. Environmental conditions will frequently impact physical comfort.
