The Elementary Title I Math Teacher provides targeted instructional support to improve learning outcomes for all students. The Title I Teacher will ensure the implementation of the school's Title I program plan and goals in collaboration with classroom teachers, intervention staff, reading specialist and school and division leadership. Focusing on mathematics, the Title I Teacher is responsible for strengthening school-wide tiered instruction. This role includes delivering research-based, high-quality intervention, supporting differentiated instruction, collaborating with teachers to increase their understanding and use of essential knowledge and skills within the Math Standards of Learning and analyzing student data to guide instruction.
The Elementary Title I Math Teacher reports to the elementary school administration and the Director of Special Education and Federal Program. Additional support and oversight is provided by the Chief Academic Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Intervention
Provide small-group and/or individual math intervention for students performing below grade level, particularly those identified through Title I criteria.
Deliver evidence-based, standards-aligned math instruction focused on foundational numeracy, problem-solving, computational fluency, and conceptual understanding.
Support students in developing math confidence, perseverance, and productive mathematical habits.
Create and use diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment data to plan and adjust interventions.
Monitor student progress regularly and maintain documentation of growth and intervention effectiveness.
Collaboration with Teachers
Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students in need of additional math support.
Assist teachers in differentiating math instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Model effective instructional strategies, lessons, and intervention techniques in classrooms.
Support the implementation of high-quality Tier I instruction and aligned Tier II supports within an MTSS/RTI framework.
Participate in grade-level planning meetings, data meetings, and problem-solving teams.
Support teachers in planning and implementing engaging, aligned and rigorous math lessons that follow effective pacing of Virginia Math Standards.
Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring
Analyze math achievement data, screening results, benchmark assessments, and classroom performance to identify trends and instructional needs.
Help develop and monitor student intervention plans, and support goal setting.
Use data to inform instructional decisions, group students strategically, and recommend next steps for intervention or enrichment.
Assist school staff in interpreting assessment results and using data to improve outcomes.
Title I Program Support
Support the implementation of the school's Title I program goals related to math achievement.
Ensure interventions and services align with Title I requirements, school improvement plans, and district expectations.
Maintain accurate records of student participation, services provided, progress monitoring, and parent communication as required.
Collaborate with administrators and instructional leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of math interventions and Title I supports.
Coordinate with stakeholders to review and revise the annual Title I School Wide Plan and Parent Involvement Plan
Lead the completion of required Title I documentation to include 4 week letters, testing letters, and parent right to know letters
Work with the Director of Federal Programs to facilitate quarterly Title I/Federal Programs Advisory Meetings
Coordinate all efforts around VKRP testing
Maintain documentation for Federal Program Monitoring
Family & Community Engagement
Communicate with families regarding student progress, intervention goals, and ways to support math learning at home.
Provide resources, workshops, and family engagement opportunities that promote math success outside of school.
Foster positive relationships with families to support student achievement and confidence in mathematics.
Plan, coordinate and lead the Annual Title I Parent Nights and other school-wide family engagement events
Professional Leadership
Stay current on best practices in elementary mathematics instruction, intervention, and Title I programming.
Participate in professional learning related to math instruction, equity, intervention, and assessment.
Serve as a resource for staff in implementing effective math practices, intervention tools, and instructional materials.
Support a school culture that values high expectations, equity, and growth for all students.
Use effective problem solving with classroom teachers, intervention staff, and leadership to ensure building and division goals are achieved.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, or related field.
Valid Virginia teaching license/certification in Elementary Education
Minimum of 3 years of successful elementary teaching experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of elementary math content, pedagogy, and intervention strategies.
Experience using assessment data to drive instruction and intervention.
Knowledge of Title I, MTSS/RTI, and best practices for supporting at-risk learners.
Preferred
Endorsement or specialized training in Mathematics, Intervention, Reading/Math Specialist, or Instructional Coaching.
Experience working with Title I programs or high-needs student populations.
Experience with progress monitoring tools, diagnostic assessments, and intervention programs.
Coaching, mentoring, or professional development experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep understanding of all learners. elementary math standards, learning progressions, and instructional best practices.
Ability to provide targeted intervention that addresses both procedural fluency and conceptual understanding.
Skill in building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
