Job Description
The Position: A Utility Locating/Land Survey Technician is responsible for accurately locating underground utilities in a variety of terrain, weather conditions, and residential, commercial, & industrial areas. In addition to performing a variety of surveying tasks from boundary, topographic data collection, mapping, construction staking, scanning and utility as-builts.

Key Responsibilities:
Identify and map location and depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, oil and electric lines,
Document interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software, and show the ability to record sound note-taking and sketches,
Communicate with clients, engineers and management,
Ability to read and understand utility maps, as-builts, legal descriptions, field calculations, and plats,
Use a variety of techniques (electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and/or radar) to accurately locate underground utilities,
Prepare field notes and document site conditions as related to project requirements,
Conduct preliminary research and put together field request packages,
Follow all safety protocols during all aspects of activities and environments,
Work as part of team in covering field services which may include utility investigation, locating, inspections, land survey activities, traffic control and more.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent,
5+ years’ experience of utility detection work,
5+ years’ experience of land survey
Prior experience with electromagnetic locating equipment (RD 8100) preferred,
Prior experience with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) preferred,
Prior experience with survey equipment (GPS, Data Collector, Surveying software),
Be physically able to lift up to 75 pounds,
Be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods,
Ability to travel overnight and out of town,
Ability to work on several concurrent projects,
Excellent technical and communication skills.
