Position Title: Data Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our team supporting the implementation of secure software solutions across the VA enterprise cloud environment. As a Data Scientist you will utilize expertise in discovering and analyzing complex data sets and data sources to derive actionable insights using statistical methods, machine learning and data visualization tools. You will also perform management and merging of disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQ.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis
Utilize scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual and verbal narrative products to inform high quality analytic decisions
Proactively retrieve data from various sources and analyze data for better understanding
Build andutilizeArtificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine Learning (ML) tools to automate processes for efficiencies
Build high quality prediction systems
Utilize data visualization and graphical applications, to include Microsoft Office (Power BI) and Tableau
Utilize major data science languages, such as R and Python
Perform statistical analysis, and data mining algorithms
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Data Science, with a minimum of10years of work experience
Experience in data visualization and use of graphical applications, including Microsoft Office Power BI and Tableau
Experienced in major data science languages, such as R and Python
Experienced in managing and merging disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL
Experienced in statistical analysis and developing data mining algorithms
Experienced with large data multi-INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics
Experienced in algorithm development, data structures, and software development practices
Working knowledge of coding and scripting, information science, mathematics, machine learning, visual analytic modeling tools, and relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to create repeatable, widely applicable procedures to support all-source intelligence analysis and production
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions
Ability to work collaboratively with users and stakeholders
Capacity to adapt to changing situations to prioritize tasks effectively
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs. Must havereliableinternet service that allows for effective telecommuting.
