Part-Time Bookkeeper

Base Compensation: $30 per hour

Job Type: Part-time (10 to 15 hours per week)

Location: Roanoke, VA — on-site

Responsibilities

· Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.

· Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all financial statements.

· Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately.

· Prepare journal entries, conduct balance sheet reconciliations, and support month-end closing procedures.

· Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and analysis to support real estate development and property management decisions.

· Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and industry-specific standards like governmental or non-profit accounting where applicable.

Requirements

· Proven experience with accounting software, including QuickBooks Online.

· Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.

· Knowledge of financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and bank reconciliation.

· Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll management.

· Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and bank statement review accurately.

· Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365.
