Our New Albany client is seeking a Project Manager – Transmission & Capital Projects to support a high-visibility portfolio of competitive transmission and infrastructure initiatives, including bid development and project execution across regional utility markets. This role will manage or support intermediate-to-complex projects in a matrixed environment, partnering cross-functionally through all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through closeout. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in capital construction, transmission, project controls, procurement, and stakeholder management, with the ability to grow into independently leading larger programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a PM who thrives in utility, EPC, energy infrastructure, or major construction project environments.
Responsibilities
Manage or support the delivery of intermediate and complex transmission, infrastructure, or capital construction projects
Coordinate project activities across initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and closeout
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and controls documentation
Support bid development, proposal strategy, and execution planning for competitive transmission opportunities
Lead project coordination meetings, milestone reviews, and stakeholder status updates
Build strong relationships across engineering, construction, procurement, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Track project scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and deliverables to ensure successful execution
Support and enforce construction and operational safety standards, promoting a Zero Harm culture
Assist with or lead procurement planning, RFP development, bid evaluation, vendor selection, and contract administration
Monitor contractor and supplier performance, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and commercial requirements
Identify project risks, mitigation strategies, and escalation paths
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on project delivery, reporting, systems, and cost optimization
Provide leadership, direction, and constructive feedback to project teams in a matrixed structure
Contribute to technical option evaluation, scope development, estimating, and startup readiness
Experience in utilities is favorable. Joint venture development is a plus.
Travel with potential overnight stays (10%)
Local candidates only. On-site, five days a week.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experienceOR
Associate degree in a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
Experience in project management, transmission, utility construction, capital projects, project controls, project engineering, or major field construction
Experience with scope development, budgeting, forecasting, schedule controls, cost reporting, and risk management
Experience supporting or managing procurement, contracts, RFPs, bid evaluations, and vendor oversight
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and present status updates
Experience working in matrixed, cross-functional project environments
Knowledge of construction safety, quality control, and contractor coordination
Must be authorized to work in the . without current or future sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting competitive transmission, FERC 1000, PJM, MISO, SPP, or utility infrastructure projects
Background in EPC, transmission line, substation, grid modernization, or large-scale energy capital programs
Experience with project controls, earned value, cost forecasting, and schedule risk analysis
Familiarity with engineering design, estimating, startup/commissioning, and technical option analysis
Exposure to PMP, PMI, or other project management certification frameworks
Strong business acumen with experience in economic analysis and commercial decision-making
Experience leading proposal development, bid strategy, or pre-construction planning
