JOB TITLE: Web Software Developer
GOVERNMENT AGENCY: Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
POSITION INFORMATION: Full time
LOCATION: Chantilly, VA - Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote after initial 30 days fully onsite)
POSITION TIMING: Active Secret clearance required; must also be able to obtain and maintain a DEA Public Trust clearance (processing time: 4-6 weeks, must be completed prior to start)

JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Software Developer to support the DEA developing develop Web-based applications including online customer service for agency components to be able to deliver their services online. Provide support in developing the site concept, interface design, and architecture of the website. Provide support for the implementation of interfaces to applications.
After an initial 30-day onboarding period onsite, this role transitions to a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
Responsibilities
Understand client requirements and how they translate in application features
Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new applications
Design creative prototypes according to specifications
Write high quality source code to program complete applications within deadlines
Perform unit and integration testing before launch
Conduct functional and non-functional testing
Troubleshoot and debug applications
Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features.
Assist in the monitoring and diagnosis of performance problems. Familiarity but functional application knowledge and experience with the MS Access database and Microsoft SQL
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
5 years of experience in application development and maintenance
Working knowledge and experience coding in Java is required
Experience with ColdFusion development
Knowledge of several of the following areas is desirable: Active Server Pages (ASP), JavaScript, and SQL Server, Visual Basic, JavaScript, MS Access, HTML, DBMS's (ex. - Oracle, Sybase, etc.).
Active Secret clearance, required
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
DESIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
Experience working in a Federal IT environment
Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell)
Experience supporting system hardening and compliance initiatives
