PROGRAM COORDINATOR - CHILDREN & FAMILY
(Replacement Temporary, Full-Time – Approximately 12 months)

The West Vancouver Community Services Department has an immediate opening for a replacement temporary, full-time position of Program Coordinator (Children & Family). Reporting to the Community Wellness and Recreation Manager this position oversees preschool, child and family programs, including music and performing arts programs and is responsible for:
· Directing, promoting, organizing, scheduling and supervising a variety of programs at the West Vancouver Community Centre, and other locations including: preschool and children’s programs, music and performing arts programs, childminding and afterschool programs, summer and school break camps, birthday parties, and community events;
· planning, assigning, supervising and reviewing the work of a large group of subordinates, including the Assistant Program Coordinator, Child, Music and Performing Arts, and instructors engaged in a wide range of recreational programs;
· hiring, training, supervising and evaluating instructors and contractors;
· preparing the budget for the multiple program area portfolios, monitoring revenues and expenditures and submitting reports to the Recreation Services Supervisor;
· collaborating on initiatives with groups such as West Vancouver School District, Vancouver Coastal Health and the West Vancouver Child and Family Hub members;
· developing and implementing practices that are consistent with risk management, licensing and safety procedures, and;
· performing other related duties as required
The successful candidate will have: knowledge of community recreation philosophies and instruction and leadership techniques: experience supervising instructors, staff and volunteers; sound experience planning and coordinating programs, working with children 0-12 years of age in a service or recreation setting; and knowledge of community center-based activities and office procedures. They will also be familiar with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (Child Care Licensing Regulations).
Desirable qualifications include a University Degree in Recreation, Child and Youth Care, Education or a a related social behavioural sciences discipline or Diploma with specific training/courses related to Early Child Development and Early Education or an equivalent combination of education and experience as well as computer experience in the use of Active Net and MS Office programs.
The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Starting Rate of Pay:
$36.97 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
