Critical Facilities Technician – Data Center
Northern, VA
Up to $45/hr (DOE) + OT + Shift Differential
12-hour shifts (Rotating initially with access to preferred shift after training period)
Overview
We are seeking a Critical Facilities Technician to support operations within a mission-critical data center environment. This role is responsible for maintaining uptime and reliability of electrical and mechanical infrastructure including power distribution, cooling systems, and backup generation.
This is a hands-on position ideal for candidates with experience in data centers, industrial maintenance, or commercial facilities engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor, and maintain critical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, and power distribution equipment
Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers)
Monitor and respond to alarms through BMS/EPMS systems
Execute work in accordance with MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues to minimize downtime
Conduct routine inspections, rounds, and equipment readings
Qualifications
Experience in a data center, critical facilities, industrial maintenance, or commercial building environment
Strong knowledge & experience in hands on maintenance of electrical systems (3-phase power, switchgear, generators) and/or mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water systems)
Familiarity with BMS/EPMS or similar monitoring systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and one-lines
Comfortable working in a 24/7 shift environment
