Advanced Medical GI (AMGI) is a comprehensive gastroenterology practice serving the needs of patients in the Northern Virginia and DC suburbs. We specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and conditions affecting the digestive system. Dr. Richard Blosser and his team of physician assistants and nurse practitioners are medical specialists who have received advanced training in gastroenterology, which involves the study of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. We have provided care for over thirty years in the Northern Virginia region
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated biller/coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office by providing exceptional billing and collections support.
Responsibilities
Review and process billing and coding information forG.I office visits and procedures.
Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT codes in accordance with current regulations and payer guidelines.
Submit claims to insurance providers and follow up on denied or pending claims.
Submit and follow up patient responsibility balances.
Maintain accurate patient and billing records, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Collaborate with the clinical team to verify documentation completeness and accuracy.
Monitor billing metrics and produce reports to support revenue cycle management.
Stay informed on changes in G.I regulations, coding standards, payer requirements, G.I medical terminology and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or equivalent recognized credential.
Proven experience in medical coding, including proficiency with ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and ICD coding standards.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation practices.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used in clinical settings for efficient coding workflows.
Experience with medical billing, collections and denial processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to interpret complex medical information accurately.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a healthcare team.

Pay: $19.35 - $23.00 per hour according to G.I experience.
