Job Title: Junior NPI Project Engineer – Automotive Injection Molding

Our client, a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, is seeking a Junior NPI Project Engineer to support new product launches within an injection molding manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build experience in automotive program launches, project coordination, and cross-functional operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to grow within a fast-paced, team-driven environment supporting high-impact manufacturing programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience
● 0–3 years of experience in manufacturing, automotive, or engineering (internship/co-op experience acceptable)
● Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding or assembly preferred)
● Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
● Effective communication skills (verbal and written) across cross-functional teams
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
● Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
● Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight or international travel
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
● Internship or co-op experience in automotive, plastics, or manufacturing environments
● Exposure to injection molding or plastic part production processes
● Familiarity with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, APQP concepts)
● Basic knowledge of project management principles and critical path tracking
● Experience or exposure to ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
● Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings or BOMs
● Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to learning
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
● Support development and maintenance of project schedules and timelines
● Track program milestones, open issues, and risks; assist in driving resolution
● Participate in customer meetings, internal reviews, and cross-functional discussions
● Maintain project documentation including NMR trackers, task lists, and databases
● Assist in coordinating sample builds, component planning, and finished goods readiness
● Update BOMs and routings within ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
● Support tracking of project costs, budgets, and inventory
● Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support successful launches
Physical and Environment Requirements
Physical expectations and working conditions associated with the job may include: standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; and working in a combination of office and manufacturing plant environments with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
