About the role
We are seeking a LiDAR Sensor Validation Engineer to lead verification and validation of our 4D imaging products. This role covers photonic sub-modules, electro-optical subsystems, thermal performance, and full system integration. You will define and execute test plans, develop validation infrastructure, and ensure product performance and quality from prototype through mass production. You will also work closely with offshore manufacturing partners on factory test, system validation, and failure analysis.
What you'll do
Lead sub-module and system-level verification and validation activities
Define validation plans, test protocols, and acceptance criteria with cross-functional teams
Develop and maintain test infrastructure, automation scripts, and data pipelines for lab and production testing
Build, characterize, debug, and evaluate prototype and production units; establish sub-module to full system performance correlation; analyze end-of-line yield, reliability data, and failure trends; drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure validation results translate into product and production readiness
Support offshore manufacturing partners on assembly validation, calibration, and production test deployment
Required Qualifications
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related photonics field
3-5 years of hands-on experience validating and characterizing opto-electronic assemblies, subsystems, or optical sensing systems
Proficiency in Python or similar tools for test automation and data analysis
Strong understanding of photonic, electrical, thermal, and mechanical interfaces
Experience building structured V&V plans with clear pass/fail criteria and traceability to product requirements
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of LiDAR or depth-sensing industry experience
Track record of supporting products through validation into mass production
Experience with SoC- and FPGA-based test platforms
Familiarity with reliability testing methods such as HALT, HASS, thermal cycling, and vibration
Background in electronic circuit validation, including power delivery and signal integrity
Benefits (subject to location and local regulations)
Competitive salary and equity
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
401(k) retirement plan
Flexible vacation and time-off policy
Collaborative, fast-paced, and inclusive work environment
Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies with a highly cross-functional team
