Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cleaning Program Manager-Pharmaceutical Manufacturing to oversee and enhance GMP and non-GMP cleaning operations within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role combines the leadership of daily operational tasks with active participation in the ongoing development, standardization, and continuous improvement of cleaning programs. The Cleaning Program Manager ensures all cleaning activities and records consistently meet cGMP, FDA, ISO, OSHA, and site-specific quality standards-driving compliance, efficiency, and best practices across the facility.
Description
Lead and monitor daily cleaning operations across GMP and non-GMP areas, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal standards, and operational needs;
Develop, standardize, and continuously update cleaning SOPs, documentation, and protocols in accordance with cGMP, FDA, ISO, and OSHA guidelines;
Coordinate and conduct site inspections and audits; participate in investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts related to cleaning processes;
Facilitate onboarding, training, and competency tracking for staff and vendor personnel, actively cultivating a culture of compliance and audit readiness;
Identify opportunities to promote best practices and drive continuous improvement by analyzing program performance and updating cleaning methodologies as needed;
Manage vendor relationships, including ongoing monitoring of quality, KPIs, staffing, documentation, and compliance with training requirements;
Serve as a key point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders regarding program and operational updates;
Contribute to budgeting, planning, reporting, and resource allocation related to all cleaning activities and performance measurement;
Provide prompt leadership and resolution for cleaning-related escalations, emergencies, or compliance risks, including after-hours and on-call support if required;
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Quality, EHS, Facilities, and Regulatory to ensure program success and alignment with site objectives.
Requirements
Authorized to work in USA;
Ability to pass all background checks and security screenings;
5+ years of facilities, GMP, laboratory, or cleanroom cleaning management experience, including people leadership;
Track record of involvement in developing and implementing cleaning programs, SOPs, and quality frameworks in regulated environments;
Strong knowledge of cGMP, FDA, ISO, OSHA requirements, and best practices for critical facility cleaning;
Ability to manage and monitor external vendor relationships, participate in audits, and drive operational quality;
Proficiency in English; Spanish and Portuguese language skills are a plus;
Familiarity with budgeting, scheduling, and vendor contract administration;
Physical capability to perform inspections and respond on-site (ability to lift up to 40 lbs, extended standing/walking);
Flexibility for holidays, weekends, overtime, on-call duties, and multi-site travel (Norwood, Marlborough, Waltham).
