About the Company
Our client is supporting a high-priority software development initiative for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This work supports mission-critical federal systems and focuses on strengthening security, compliance tracking, and vulnerability management within a modern cloud-based environment. The team is seeking a Backend Developer who can contribute to the development of secure, reliable, and scalable applications in support of federal compliance and risk management efforts.
About the Role
The Backend Developer will help design, build, and maintain a modern browser-based application used to manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) as part of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. This role will focus on developing scalable backend services, building and optimizing RESTful APIs, managing SQL-based data storage, and supporting distributed workflows in AWS.
The position also involves implementing DevSecOps practices, supporting CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional engineering and security teams, and ensuring backend components align with secure coding standards and federal compliance requirements. This is a hands-on role in a cloud-native AWS environment supporting a mission-critical program.
Requirements
Active TS/SCI clearance Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of backend development experience Strong experience with Node.js and backend service development Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and performance tuning Experience with Python and JavaScript Experience building data pipelines and distributed workflows in AWS Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, Glue, Redshift, RDS, EC2, and S3 Understanding of secure coding practices, cloud security, and RMF-aligned development Experience with containerized development using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills Experience working in Agile development environments
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with AWS IAM, KMS, or other security-focused cloud services Knowledge of POA&M workflows, cybersecurity compliance, or federal audit processes Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation Experience in high-security or intelligence community environments
