The Baggage Encoder is responsible for supporting United Airlines IAD's Baggage sortation process to properly distribute baggage inline system; MU2, MU3 & FIS.

Responsibilities
- Manually scanning misread bar code tags to determine correct route.
- Manually updating routing information for baggage to be in correct destination.
- Moving unreadable baggage to appropriate area for further action to be taken.
- Reporting inoperable equipment and notify UA supervisor immediately and not operate the equipment.

- Able to move, bend, squat, walk, run quickly; sometimes within a small and/or narrow space and long distance as well.
