Job Title: New Hire UtilityJob Description

The New Hire Utility role involves learning to operate equipment associated with the extrusion or tube mill processes and handling aluminum products. This position requires adherence to safe job practices, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.Responsibilities

Operate, support, and move materials on and off machines using lifting techniques and hoists.

Support tube mill operations and work a different shift than the extrusion department.

Ensure quality objectives are met and assist operators with extrusion or casting equipment.

Report and review unusual conditions with lead operators or supervisors.

Collaborate with team members and management to meet daily production goals.

Work in a Union environment and adhere to Union terms regarding shift movement and flexibility.

Begin as a utility worker and learn various departments before transitioning into a specific department.Essential Skills

1-2 years of manufacturing experience.

Familiarity with machine operation and assembly line processes.

Experience in production support, material handling, and quality control.

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting weights of 15-50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally with assistance.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude and machine operation experience preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Willingness to learn forklift operation and participate in cross-training.

Flexibility to work all three shifts as required by Tube Mill operations.Why Work Here?

The work environment is non-climate controlled and can be loud due to machinery, but it is spacious. Summers are hot despite air flow and cooling fans, and the facility is heated in winter. Tube Mill hours involve long days with standard shifts of 7-3, 3-11, and 11-7, and potential work up to 10-12 hours, six days a week. Employees work around grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids, essential for machine operation.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr.
