Illinois Statewide Medical Director

Centurion is proud to be the new provider of comprehensive healthcare services to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

We are currently seeking a full-time Statewide Medical Director to serve as the clinical leader for our Illinois contract. Candidates must reside in Illinois.

The Statewide Medical Director will provide comprehensive medical direction needed to meet the service delivery requirements of the Illinois contract in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations/Regional Vice President. The Statewide Medical Director will also:

Provide the clinical and utilization management direction needed to meet the service delivery requirements the specific contract.

Mentor, clinically supervise and evaluate the team-delivered medical services for the patients at all facilities of the contract.

Mentor and evaluate the team-delivered utilization management process.

Promote the culture of quality medical care using evidence-based standard of care.

Establish directives, provide direction and/or attend the following committees/groups: Continuous Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention and Control, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Utilization Management.

Function as consultant for behavioral health staff and ancillary provider staff.

Provide indirect clinical services.

Serve as the contract's clinical expert, provider resource, clinical and medical management leader, and clinical outcomes driver.

Represent correctional healthcare to the client and the contract's providers.

Qualifications

Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine is REQUIRED for this position

Documentation of education as MD or DO and completion of accredited residency program required

Current license to practice medicine Illinois required

Must have and maintain an active, non-restricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate

Must have two years' experience in medical administration or supervising medical staff

Must receive approval of Credentialing Review Committee if review requested

Must maintain current tuberculosis screening documentation and active CPR certification

Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable

Minimum of two years of experience practicing as physician in a correctional setting preferred

Excellent communication skills to include verbal, listening, written and comprehension
