Job Description

Company Summary

We specialize in the design and development of large ground-based material handling equipment and electromechanical dynamic systems. The mechanical engineering team focuses on the design of complex machinery incorporating gear motors, sprockets, chains, rotary bearings, and some linear motion components. The company values collaboration, hands-on learning, and professional growth, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and development for its engineering team.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our mechanical engineering team. The successful candidate will support detailed mechanical design work, create 3D models and manufacturing drawings, and contribute to the development of robust electromechanical systems. This role offers significant growth potential, with the opportunity to advance into a more senior designer position over time. The position starts with full-time on-site onboarding and transitions to a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed mechanical design and 3D modeling of components and assemblies for large material handling equipment and electromechanical systems.

Create detailed manufacturing drawings for fabrication and machining.

Work with assemblies involving gear motors, sprockets, chains, rotary bearings, and linear motion components.

Apply principles of basic dynamics, free body diagrams, material selection, and strength analysis to ensure reliable designs.

Collaborate closely with the Senior Engineer and Draftsman on design projects.

Participate in design reviews and contribute to design-for-manufacturing improvements.

Support hands-on troubleshooting and learning in a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

2-5 years of professional experience in mechanical design (mid-level, not entry-level).

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience of 8+ years.

Strong daily/regular experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks highly preferred).

Proven ability to create detailed manufacturing drawings and manage assemblies/components.

Solid understanding of mechanical systems, including basic dynamics, free body diagrams, material selection, and strength properties.

Experience in machine design or related fields (tool & die, press design, etc., considered relevant).

Ability to work effectively in a small team environment with mentorship from a senior engineer.

Preferred Requirements

Previous experience at machine builders or automation companies

Exposure to design for manufacturing (DFM) and familiarity with fabrication/machine shop environments.

Experience with internal calculation tools for statics, dynamics, and bearing selection.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $85,000 – $105,000

Annual Profit Sharing Bonus: Typically 5-10% of base salary, based on company performance.

401(k): Company match of 6%.
