Job Description
Support the engineering and design of high-voltage substations (12kV-500kV), including both greenfield and brownfield projects
Assist in developing detailed one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
Perform equipment sizing, selection, and specification for key components such as power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, CTs/PTs, and bus systems
Contribute to physical substation design, including general arrangement plans, grounding layouts, conduit/cable routing, and electrical clearances
Assist with protection & control (P&C) design, including relay schemes, panel layouts, and interconnection details
Support load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies under guidance of senior engineers
Review and interpret utility standards, client specifications, and applicable codes (IEEE, NEC, NESC) to ensure design compliance
Coordinate closely with civil, structural, and relay engineering teams to ensure integrated and constructible designs
Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction drawing packages

The Successful Applicant
A successful Junior Substation Engineer should have:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
0-3 years of experience (internships/co-ops in T&D preferred)
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools
Basic understanding of power systems and substation equipment
EIT or on track to obtain preferred
