Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an Engineer for a Contract with a client in Frederick, MD. The candidate must have strong enterprise-level network engineering expertise, including advanced proficiency with LAN/WAN/WLAN design, routing protocols, and security technologies to be considered for this role.

Rate Range: $37/hour to $45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Engineer job responsibilities include:

Leads the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise-wide LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud-integrated network infrastructures.

Configures and maintains routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and proxy systems to ensure secure and reliable operations.

Monitors network performance, troubleshoots complex issues, and ensures high availability, speed, and uptime across the environment.

Implements network security protocols, patches, upgrades, and service-pack updates to maintain a hardened and compliant infrastructure.

Provides Level 2/3 support while serving as an escalation point for critical network incidents and operational challenges.

Collaborates with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to align network architecture with business goals and contribute to long-term technology roadmaps.

Required Qualifications:

Holds a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

10+ years of experience in enterprise networking, routing, security protocols, and infrastructure management.

Meets client expectations by demonstrating strong proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and advanced networking protocols across LAN/WAN/WLAN environments.

Demonstrates the ability to implement secure, scalable network architectures and support cloud integrated networking solutions as required by the client.

Pay Details: $37.00 to $45.00 per hour
