Field Engineer

Title: Field Engineer Location: Calvert, AL Project: Steel Mill Duration: 8+ months Salary: $32 - $35/hour - 1.5X OT Per Diem: $130/day Expected work schedule: 6-10s.

Target start date / availability: ASAP Openings: 2 We are seeking a Field Engineer to support construction activities on a large-scale industrial steel mill project.

This role will work closely with field supervision and project management to track installation progress, support reporting efforts, and assist with coordination between engineering and construction teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands on construction experience who is looking to transition into a more technical, office and field coordination role.

Key Responsibilities Track and report installed quantities for:Equipment settingStructural steel installation and supportsMaintain daily and weekly production reports to support project controls and progress trackingEnter and manage data in spreadsheets and project tracking systems (including Procore)Work with field supervisors to verify completed work and ensure accurate reporting Assist with RFI (Request for Information) process:Help identify field issuesGather necessary documentation (photos, sketches, markups)Support submission and tracking of RFIsReview drawings and specifications to understand scope and installation requirementsPerform field walks to monitor progress, identify issues, and support coordination effortsMaintain organized project documentation including logs, reports, and field notesSupport communication between craft labor, supervision, and engineering teams Qualifications1–5 years of construction experience in industrial, commercial, or heavy civil environmentsBackground as a craft worker (ironworker, millwright, laborer, etc.) is strongly encouragedPrior experience as a Field Engineer or Field Coordinator is a plus, but not requiredAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and basic specificationsComfortable using computers for daily tasks including data entry, spreadsheets, and construction software (Procore or similar)Strong attention to detail, especially around quantities and reportingComfortable working both in the field and in a site office environment Ideal Candidate ProfileSomeone currently working in the field who wants to move into a more technical roleComfortable using a laptop or tablet on site for tracking and reporting workReliable, organized, and able to take direction from project leadershipNot afraid to ask questions and dig into drawings or field conditionsComfortable being around heavy industrial construction environments FootBridge is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
