Substance Use Disorder Program Director

Position Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of clinical and operational services within the outpatient treatment center. This leadership role ensures the delivery of high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and the development of a therapeutic environment that supports client recovery and well-being. The Program Director will oversee daily operations, manage multidisciplinary staff, and implement programs that align with the center's mission and treatment philosophies.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight of all clinical, administrative, and operational aspects of the outpatient treatment program.

Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards, including licensing, documentation, and quality assurance protocols.

Supervise and support clinical staff, including therapists, counselors, behavioral health technicians, and other team members through regular meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.

Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clinical staff to ensure effective client care.

Oversee admissions, discharges, and continuity of care, ensuring a smooth client experience and coordination with external providers and family members when appropriate.

Monitor program outcomes, client progress, and staff performance to ensure ongoing quality improvement.

Manage scheduling, staffing levels, and operational workflows to maintain efficient and effective program delivery.

Facilitate staff trainings on clinical best practices, crisis intervention, and organizational policies.

Address and resolve client or staff concerns, incidents, or emergencies in accordance with company policies and ethical standards.

Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting, strategic planning, and program development.

Represent the facility in audits, inspections, and with external stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2-3 years of management or supervisory experience in a behavioral health, substance use, or residential treatment setting.

Strong knowledge of clinical practices, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF, DHCS).

Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism and sound judgment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with program development and implementation.

Background in both mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
