Job Description

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for our Structural Department in Wall or Newark, NJ.

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design for building systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.

Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.

Assist with the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and details.

Coordinate structural design with other internal disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architecture.

Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.

Assist with field observations and site visits to evaluate existing structures and construction progress.

Support project managers with scheduling, coordination, and technical deliverables.

Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus or Structural Engineering.

2–4 years of structural design experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.

Working knowledge of structural design software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar analysis programs.

Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.

Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other applicable design codes.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Willingness to travel to project sites to perform construction inspections and structural field observations in New Jersey and New York

Preferred Qualifications

ICC Special Inspector certification or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification, or the ability to obtain within one year of hire

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
