Job Summary

The Preschool and Junior Kindergarten Aide assists the classroom teacher with daily instructional and organizational tasks while supporting faith-filled learning experiences. The aide helps create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment that reflects Catholic values and promotes the whole child. This position requires a joyful, patient, and flexible individual who models Christian values and works collaboratively with teachers, students, and families.

Responsibilities

Instructional Support

Assist the teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and learning activities

Support small group instruction and individualized learning

Reinforce academic skills in early literacy, math readiness, fine motor, and social development

Help prepare classroom materials, centers, and learning resources

Observe and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress

Faith Formation & Catholic Identity

Model Gospel values in all interactions with students and staff

Support daily prayer, religious activities, and faith-based learning

Help foster a classroom environment rooted in kindness, respect, and service

Encourage children to develop a love for God, others, and learning

Classroom Management & Environment

Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging classroom

Help supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, and specials

Support students in developing positive social-emotional skills

Guide children in practicing responsibility, sharing, and cooperation

Care & Supervision

Assist students with personal needs as appropriate (handwashing, snack time, restroom routines)

Ensure student safety at all times

Monitor behavior and support positive discipline practices consistent with school philosophy

Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred

Experience working with young children preferred

Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the Catholic mission of the school

Ability to model Christian values and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing disposition

Employment Classification

Part-time or full-time (as determined by school needs)

Reports to: Preschool/Junior Kindergarten Teacher and School Principal
