Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LPN IV Certified) – Geriatric Psychiatric Unit

Location: SGH Senior Care – Geri-Psych Unit

Schedule: PRN Days Rotating Weekends

Reports To: RN Supervisor

Remote Work: No

About the Role

Join our compassionate team at SGH, where we provide specialized care for older adults with behavioral health needs. As an LPN/LPN IV Certified Nurse in our Geriatric Psychiatric Unit, you'll deliver safe, patient-centered care while supporting emotional and physical well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans

Perform treatments within LPN/LPN IV scope as ordered by physicians

Administer and document medications and treatments accurately

Participate in admissions, discharges, and transfers

Provide age-appropriate and culturally competent care

Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions

Respond to emergencies and initiate resuscitative measures per protocols

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to infection-control standards

Monitor equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and clean environment

Mentor and support peers while adapting to change positively

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program

Licensure: Current LPN license in Mississippi (Required)

Certifications: CPR/BLS (Required); IV Certification (Preferred)

Experience: Previous experience in geriatric or psychiatric care preferred

Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
