BIRNS Inc, is growing and we are adding to our technical sales team. We are looking for an experienced Sales Executive that has exceptional skill and a proven track record influencing buyers, through technical product presentation and comparison. The Sales Executive develops and maintains relationships with potential and existing customers in technical sales and manufacturing products.
SUMMARY
Sells company products by influencing buyers, through technical product presentation and comparison, to select our products in preference to competitors’. Performs all necessary office-based sales-related and customer service duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develops and maintains relationships with potential and existing clients in technical sales and BIRNS manufacturing products.
· Continued development to learn and maintain knowledge of any new products, electrical concepts, inter-connect and subsea products.
· Applies knowledge of the field and product features to match products to the needs of customers.
· Answers customer inquiries regarding products, their uses and the industry at large.
· Provides information, quotes, credit terms, and other bid specifications, and obtains all pertinent detailed customer requirements for customer orders.
· Pursue sales leads through finalization, whether by phone, fax, email, direct contact, or any combination of customer relations and sales systems and techniques.
· Must provide clear and thorough communication regarding technical products, and customer sales information.
· Negotiates terms of sale, and/or sales agreements; prepares contracts and submits orders.
· Collaborates with the Manufacturing Manager, Purchasing/Procurement departments and others to confirm that orders are processed with accuracy and efficiency for quality, and on time delivery.
· Listen to customer needs and provide recommendations based on product knowledge.
· Review sales leads that may be generated through systems, advertisements, customer feedback, magazine articles, website hits, sales team reports, etc.
· Regularly report status of incomplete and outstanding leads to the team and management.
· Report any pertinent or significant market feedback to Management.
· Provide insightful market analysis and participate in marketing strategies focused on increasing sales.
· Perform all sales-related processing in appropriate systems, spreadsheets, etc.
· Maintain accurate customer data, by performing updates into systems, spreadsheets etc.
· Send out communications, literature, drawings, and technical data upon approval and upon request.
· Provide order shipment information, order acknowledgements, etc. to customers for complete customer satisfaction.
· Follow up on orders, and regularly contact existing customers to assure total customer satisfaction.
· Interface with customers to handle any problems.
· Promote and maintain positive customer relations to assure customer satisfaction.
TRADE SHOWS
· Provide preparation assistance for exhibiting at trade shows.
· Assist in all set-up and break-down of booth.
· Work and attend customer experience events as requested.
· Work the booth by obtaining customer leads and entering database information.
· Follow up on sales leads after trade shows.
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE SUPPORT (WHEN SPECIALIST IS ABSENT)
· Provide support for customers visiting from arrival to departure, to include:
- arrange for limousine or other transportation service (SUVs with professional drivers) for airport pickups, ensuring a driver will greet visitors, inside the terminal with a sign displaying the group's name.
- Coordinate hotel accommodations, including number and type of rooms needed.
- Order bottled water for visitors, refrigerate, and ensure availability during their visit
- Confirm any dietary restrictions with with visitors in advance and arrange appropriate meals (breakfast, lunch, snacks) to be delivered to BIRNS office.
- Set up refreshments and food for meetings
- Prepare the conference room by ensuring tables, chairs, and whiteboard are clean and ready for use.
- During meetings, monitor, and maintain the conference room by tidying, replenishing refreshments, and supplies as needed for visitor comfort.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Technical Sales Manager throughout the visit to proactively address additional needs and ensure an excellent customer expereince.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree (A/S) from a technical college or university, and five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and effective sales correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups. (Ability to speak a language other than English may be helpful but is not required.)
SOCIAL SKILLS: Ability to continually interact with others as a contributing member of a close-knit team. Ability to work together with others, possibly of different backgrounds and interests, without friction. Works well with people.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and finance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to comfortably use computer software in Windows environments. Intermediate to advanced understanding of word- processing, spreadsheet, and related office applications, including contact management software. Effectively use an ERP/MRP system, M1 preferred.
SALES SKILLS: Ability to easily use standard negotiation practices and sales techniques to gently influence customers to buy our products. Ability to take effective notes at sales meetings. Ability to effectively listen to customers to determine their actual needs.
TRAVEL: Ability to travel as needed, estimated 20% travel required. This is to serve as an estimate and may change according to business need.
GENERAL: A self-starter, able to work independently, able to work under pressure, comfortable with selling into multiple levels of organization, able to work cross- functionally within organization to accomplish sales objectives, results oriented, comfortable with working towards sales quota.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate papers during filing or mailing; use fingers to type; and reach with hands and arms (and, sometimes, to stoop) to place/replace file folders, documents, etc. The employee is regularly required to hear the telephone and use it to speak clearly to customers. The employee must regularly lift and/or move files or documents weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move items (E.g. catalogs, literature, product samples or show display materiel) weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee must also be able to set up a standard “pop-up” display booth without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for typing, color vision for filing with color-coded files and documents, and the ability to adjust focus, e.g. when shifting gaze back and forth between a document and a computer screen.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an environment typical of a small-to-medium sized office. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate; noise producers include standard office equipment (including, but not limited to, ringing telephones and computer printers). Fumes and/or airborne particles present are those emitted by typical fax machines, computer printers, and photocopiers.
The employee is occasionally exposed to other hazards, when the employee needs to go onto our factory floor. There, hazards are typical of a light manufacturing environment.
Occasionally, the employee is required to travel to, and work at, a trade show. During those periods, hazards are typical of standard transportation carriers (automobile, commercial aircraft, or train travel), hotel accommodation, and the trade show environment.
