POSITION: Upper Elementary Classroom Teacher
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid K-5 Michigan Teaching Certificate
Demonstrated excellence in explicit instruction and student engagement in an elementary classroom
Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills
Ability to utilize technology for teaching and learning
Knowledge of or willingness to learn the following:
1. Common Core State Standards
2. Curricular unit and lesson design to include the Understanding by Design model
3. Teachers Learning Together (TLT) concept of professional development
4. Tiered intervention programs and differentiated instruction
5. NWEA
6. Evidence-based literacy and math practices
7. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create a positive classroom climate for all learners
Plan and teach lessons that engage and support all learners
Implement core reading (Bookworms) and core math (Reveal Math) instruction with fidelity
Utilize data to provide timely intervention and enrichment to all learners
Work collaboratively with a team of teachers
Communicate effectively with parents, support staff, administration, and other invested stakeholders regarding the academic, emotional, and behavioral growth of individual students
Participate in data review and other school improvement meetings
Attend staff meetings and other professional development as assigned by the building administrator
SALARY & BENEFITS:
Per Master Agreement (contract is under negotiation for 2026-27) - up to Step 9 on the WEA salary schedule with applicable years of experience and Superintendent approval.
$1,000 annual bonus for obtaining and maintaining a National Board Certification
Comprehensive retirement and insurance benefits packages (or $5,000 cash in lieu of health insurance)
Annual paid time off, as follows: 4 Personal Days, 12 Sick Days
Longevity pay, once eligible
Early Notification and Early Retirement Incentives, if qualified
Sick bank payout available up to $15,000 upon retirement, if qualified
