JOB IDENTIFICATION:
Job Title: Laser Operator
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more CNC laser cutting machines to cut various sizes, shapes, and thickness of sheet metal according to production specifications. Assist other CNC operators with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work, and material staging.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures on CNC cutting equipment.
Works closely with Supervisor, Lead, and programmer to ensure timely production and delivery of parts.
Works with programmers to ensure all component parts are accurately programmed and all nests run efficiently
Layout and maintains first piece inspection parts to conform to engineering changes and revisions for ISO compatibility.
Ensure production schedule follows as allocated by the scheduling
department.
Assist in loading and unloading team members’ machines when production
requires additional manpower to maintain throughput. Works with maintenance to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems as they occur.
Assists in repair and scheduled maintenance.
Manages material stock in storage tower.

OTHER DUTIES:
Trains and assists alternate operators.
Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
Performs all other miscellaneous duties as required
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Six months of commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school.
Experience: One to two years’ work related experience in a manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manual Dexterity: Work requires moderate speed and accuracy.
Physical Effort: Work requires a considerable variety of steady active physical exertion.
Working Conditions: More frequent exposure to disagreeable features.
Hazards: Individuals with a pacemaker should never be around a Laser cutting machine. Exposure to hazards that may result in short-term work-related absences.
