Job Description
Quality Control Manager TBAKI USA, LLC. — Athens, AL
Department: Quality Control Reports To: Plant Manager Travel: 10–20%
Why This Role Matters
TBAKI is a Tier 1 Toyota supplier. The quality of what we make ends up in vehicles on the road — which means the Quality Control Manager isn't a support function, they're a line of defense. You'll lead quality operations across all shifts, own the systems that protect our customer relationships, and drive the continuous improvement that keeps this plant competitive.
What You'll Do
Lead and develop a team of 8–10 direct reports across production and lab environments (Assistant Managers, Group Leaders, Lab Technicians, Team Leaders)
Own plant-wide quality systems, audits, and compliance — IATF16949, ISO9001, and customer-specific standards (Toyota, Mazda, and others)
Analyze in-process defects, investigate root cause, and drive countermeasures using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and similar methodologies
Maintain SQAM documentation — QAS, Process Flow, PFMEA, MQC/CP
Serve as primary contact for all customer, supplier, and internal quality issues
Track and present departmental KPIs and quality improvement plans to plant leadership
Partner with production, engineering, and suppliers to improve process stability and capability
Support and manage 3rd party sort and rework operations when needed
What You Bring
Required:
5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
3+ years leading a quality team or function
Working knowledge of IATF16949/ISO9001 and core automotive quality tools (PFMEA, control plans, SPC)
Hands-on experience with measurement tools — CMM, Faro Arm, calipers, micrometers, check fixtures
Proven ability to lead root cause investigations and close corrective actions
Flexibility for a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including occasional weekend coverage
Preferred:
Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive JIT environment experience
Toyota Production System (TPS) background
Minitab or GAGEtrak experience
Multi-customer quality environment experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
What Success Looks Like
Quality team performing with clear accountability and measurable improvement
Customer audits passed, relationships protected
Defect-related costs trending down
KPIs tracked, reported, and acted on — not just documented
Work Environment
Combination of office and manufacturing floor. Standard automotive plant conditions apply — PPE required in designated areas. Fast-paced, multi-shift operation.

Tier 1 Toyota supplier — recognized name, high standards, stable operation
Direct visibility to Plant Manager with real decision-making authority
