The School Secretary -Guidance at Ledyard High School is responsible to the Director of Guidance and performs secretarial and administrative clerical duties in the high school guidance office; and assists students, teachers, parents, and visitors.
The School Secretary-Guidance at Ledyard High School shall work within district, state, and federal statutes, regulations, and policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Responds to student and parent inquiries by telephone, email, and in person * Screens incoming calls and refers to appropriate staff members * Manages appointments and calendar details for five school counselors * Oversees cumulative record file system for all students * Assists with data entry and extraction of reports from student information system * Collaborates with district staff to support enrollment and withdrawal procedures * Prepares student transfer and college entrance information * Assists in the organization and administration of college testing programs * Oversees annual awards/scholarship program * Receives oral or written directions from supervisor * Plans and organizes work according to established or standard office procedures * Composes and types routine correspondence or reports * Organizes work to relieve staff members of administrative detail work * Maintains confidential files of school psychologist and guidance counselors * Operates duplicating and copying equipment * Other duties as assigned Qualifications: High School diploma required Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in an administrative support role Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and decision making skills; ability to work with employees and the public in a professional, effective, and courteous manner Aptitude for technology systems, including data entry, and/or sufficient ability to learn new systems or programs Pay and Benefits: * In accordance with the Ledyard Educational Secretaries Agreement * Medical, dental and vision offered * 403(b)/457 retirement plan available * Paid time off Physical Environment: * Works in a collaborative, busy office environment * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer * Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times To Apply: Applications will only be accepted online.
