Job Description
Our client is seeking a Bridge Project Manager to lead and deliver transportation structure projects across Virginia and the Mid Atlantic region. This role is ideal for a senior bridge or structural engineer who is ready to take on broader project management responsibilities, including client coordination, schedule and budget oversight, team leadership, and technical review. The position offers the opportunity to work on a range of projects—from smaller bridge replacements to large, complex, and regionally significant transportation infrastructure efforts.

Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote (remote days typically Wednesday and Friday)
Requirements:
Manage bridge and structural projects from planning through delivery, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
Serve as the primary client point of contact, maintaining strong relationships and managing expectations.
Provide technical oversight and review of bridge and structural design deliverables.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including internal staff and subconsultants.
Develop project management plans, quality management plans, schedules, staffing plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor project progress, financial performance, and resource needs; prepare progress reports and invoices.
Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, client outreach, and interview participation.
Mentor and guide junior and mid level engineering staff, providing coaching and performance feedback.
Participate in internal leadership meetings and contribute to long term project and client planning.
Qualifications (Must-Haves)
10+ years of bridge and structural design experience.
Demonstrated project management experience or clear progression into PM responsibilities.
Strong client facing communication skills and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis (ABET accredited)
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; Virginia PE preferred or ability to obtain VA PE within a reasonable timeframe.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with VDOT or Virginia localities/agencies.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants.
Familiarity with multiple delivery methods (Design Bid Build, Design Build, P3)
Prior involvement in complex or large scale transportation infrastructure projects.
Technical Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
Ability to review deliverables produced in MicroStation, OpenBridge, OpenRoads, or equivalent platforms.
Familiarity with bridge analysis and rating tools (e.g., AASHTOWare, Midas Civil)
Experience with project scheduling and document management systems (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, ProjectWise, SharePoint)
