Description

The City of Jefferson is looking to hire a dependable Parks Maintenance Workers within the Parks and Recreation Department. This position works independently and is responsible for all janitorial work in the care of cleaning and maintenance of all department facilities. The ideal candidate will be detailed driven, have endurance and time management skills to cover several park rentals throughout the day while providing excellent customer service skills to both park patrons and staff.

Examples of Duties

Ensures Park buildings and grounds are clean and orderly by cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, removing trash inside the buildings, picking up trash and debris from the parking lot and area around the park facility.

Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors.

Operates blowers, trim mowers, snow blowers and various hand tools.

Cleans and sanitizes toilets, sinks, water fountains and replenish supplies (soap, toilet paper, paper towels etc.)

Unclogs sinks and toilets.

Cleans mirrors and windows.

Empties trash, power washes assigned areas.

Reports vandalism and maintenance concerns to supervisor.

Assists with other duties as assigned including but not limited to leaf removal, snow removal trim mowing and special event support.

Communicates with supervision to maintain a through inventory.

Cleans and services janitorial equipment.

Works under the general supervision of the Parks Resources Supervisor.

Typical Qualifications

Physical: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; lift carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds; stand for extended periods;

Mental: Ability to follow directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and organize equipment, supplies and vehicles necessary for daily work tasks. Must be a positive Parks and Recreation representative while working closely with co-workers, park patrons and the general public.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions and follow the JC Parks Facilities schedule without supervision

Parks Maintenance Trainee:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Parks Maintenance Worker:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one-year experience directly involved in parks grounds maintenance, or a closely related field.

Obtains and maintains Missouri Class B CDL with air brake and tank endorsement.

Senior Parks Maintenance Worker:

Requires a high school diploma and four years' experience directly involved in parks grounds maintenance, or a closely related field.

Obtains and maintains Missouri Class B CDL with air brake and tank endorsement.

Supplemental Information

This position works a minimum of 3 weekends per month, overtime and some holidays.

Specific job title and salary depend upon qualifications. Minimum starting salary for a Parks Maintenance Worker $17.80 per hour and maximum salary for a Senior Parks Maintenance Worker is $28.04 per hour.

I am available to work Friday thought Tuesday and understand the hours are based on the needs of the department.

I am available to work Wednesday through Sunday and understand the hours are based on the needs of the department.

I am available to work rotating shift which includes working 2-3 weekends a month.
