Overview
Join a growing Utility Infrastructure team delivering impactful water, wastewater, and stormwater projects that directly support public health and sustainable communities. This role is designed for engineers at varying experience levels, from developing professionals building technical depth to seasoned engineers leading complex design efforts.
You will contribute to projects from concept through construction, collaborating with Project Managers and senior technical staff while gaining increasing ownership based on your experience level.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects, including distribution systems, pumping stations, treatment facilities, green infrastructure, and utility relocations
Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, calculations, permitting documents, and construction exhibits
Perform engineering calculations, technical evaluations, and product research (increasing in complexity with experience)
Interpret and apply regulatory requirements to ensure compliant, constructible designs
Identify design challenges and develop practical, efficient, and innovative solutions
Collaborate with Project Managers on technical execution, planning, and problem-solving
Support construction administration through RFIs, submittals, site visits, and field reports
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external partners for seamless project delivery
Contribute to quality assurance through review of engineering documents and deliverables
Mentor and support junior staff (senior-level expectation; developing skill at PE level)
Serve as technical representative of firm at all required project meetings, presentations, and public hearings
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Experience range:
Project Engineer: ~4+ years of relevant experience
Senior Project Engineer: 10+ years of diversified experience
Background in water, wastewater, stormwater, and municipal or public utility projects
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, engineering standards, and infrastructure best practices
Proven ability to handle increasing technical complexity and project responsibility with experience
Active involvement or interest in professional organizations (e.g., WEF, AWWA, ASCE)
Travel: Occasional day trips to project sites and client meetings
Field Work: Occasional site assessment, field measurements, construction observation
