Senior Estimator

Location: Macomb County, MI

Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, full-time Senior Estimator/Estimator to join our team on-site at our Macomb County, Roseville, MI location. The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documents. The Senior Estimator/Estimator will be responsible for material take-offs, vendor and subcontractor solicitation, scope review, cost analysis, and value engineering. Coordinating with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids will also be a key part of the role, as well as tracking project progress and maintaining cost-effectiveness throughout the lifecycle of a project. Qualifications The estimator in this position is responsible for preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of complete estimates on large complex commercial projects as required by the client’s bid documents and provide a complete conceptual bid price based on those documents.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on all types of projects by performing the following:

• Streamline department functions including operating budgets.

• Collaborate with management on the selection of projects to be bid, bid strategy, bidding software, distribution platforms, etc.

• Take the lead role in projects assigned.

• Prepare new and update existing processes where needed.

• Review final bid package to ensure the bid submission is complete and per the specified customer requirements prior to management’s review.

• Provide complete bid qualification documents to accompany bid submission.

• Participate in presentations to leadership and our corporate clients.

• Collaborate with VP of Project Management and lessons learned when generating bid questions for a specific client.

• Conduct subcontractor pre-award meeting with key trades of awarded projects.

• Provide value engineering input and conduct value analysis reviews on each project.

• Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as may be required.

• Assist in making the “sale”.

• Participate in pre-bid meetings.

• Track awarded contracts as required.

• Perform additional tasks as requested by VP, or President.

• Actively market ACME Enterprises’ and our services to potential clients and subcontractors.

• Communication on potential leads to Business Development for follow-up.

• Maintain professionalism during work hours in support of ACME Enterprises’ image.

• Develops and maintains information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

• Actively seek out new subcontractors and suppliers in all geographic areas.

• Some travel may be required throughout the continental United States, this is minimal.

Qualifications;

• 3-5 years’ work experience as Estimator or equivalent position.

• Thorough understanding of all aspects of remodeling and new commercial construction to include demolition, earthwork and utilities.

• In-depth knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies, techniques, and construction contracts between all parties is required.

• Experience with Building Connected and Blue Beam is a plus.

• Strong skills in construction cost estimation and material take-offs

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and project specifications

• Experience with vendor and subcontractor negotiation and solicitation

• Knowledge of project budgeting, cost analysis, and value engineering

• Competency in pre-construction processes and bid preparation

• Proficiency in relevant software, including estimation tools and spreadsheets

• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

• Understanding of job-site safety protocols and guidelines

• Previous experience in commercial construction estimating is required

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred
