Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Hyperscale and AI infrastructure investment is accelerating, creating a significant growth opportunity for Vertiv across our robust portfolio—power train, thermal chain, and whitespace solutions, including prefabricated and modular system-level offerings. The Director, Strategy & Planning – Hyperscale is critical to ensuring we focus on the right opportunities and convert that focus into executable growth programs.
This role drives the front-end “where to play” work: building a fact base on customer capex and demand signals, defining decision criteria, and leading analysis, prioritization, and governance to determine which hyperscale growth programs Vertiv should pursue (and why). Once priorities are set, the role helps translate them into programmatic plans that align the enterprise to win.
As hyperscale customers demand speed, scale, and flawless execution, Vertiv must align Technology & Business Development, Global Account Directors, Product Lines, Capacity Planning, Operations, Supply Chain, Pricing, and Industrialization around a single, credible plan. Acting as the strategic glue between commercial leadership and operational execution, you will design the program architecture and governance rhythms that turn prioritized opportunities into coordinated action—surfacing risks and trade-offs and driving decisions across teams without formal authority.
A critical component of this role is maintaining visibility into the hyperscale program funnel, continuously qualifying and shaping opportunities, updating the fact base, and driving disciplined prioritization as market and customer signals evolve. This ensures Vertiv allocates scarce resources effectively and equips executive leadership with clear visibility into what to pursue, why, and what it will take to win.
This role is designed for individuals who thrive in ambiguous, high-impact environments, enjoy owning outcomes without formal authority, and want direct exposure to enterprise-level decision making to build industry knowledge and foundational capabilities for future leadership roles. You will have visibility from senior leadership as this is on the most important growth vectors for Vertiv.
Why This Role
Direct exposure to the world’s largest & most advanced hyperscale customers
Influence where to play and how to win strategy formulation and execution
Broad enterprise visibility across strategy, sales, and operations
A launchpad role for future leadership roles
