Data Designer
• 5 Years Datastage and Supply Chain EDI Experience
• Has extensive knowledge using DataStage ETL tools (Datastage v8.x or 11.x) and various database platforms
• Experience with Caterpillar EDI project design and development is highly desired
• Familiarity and/or experience in any Caterpillar Business Area that leverages EDI
• Familiarity with AIAG Supply Chain EDI model
• Familiarity of extracting data from various data sources and loading to Teradata, Oracle, and DB2 RDBMS
• Knowledge and Understanding of Caterpillar EDI Environment
• Understanding of Caterpillar SI mapping naming structure
• Deep knowledge of Caterpillar IDOC/APP structures
• Understanding and knowledge of Caterpillar EDI Design Patterns
• Excellent communication/interview skills to extract detailed EDI integration requirements from non-technical integration requesters, as well as ability to effectively collaborate with Caterpillar EDI Subject Matter Experts.
• Ability to read and understand Caterpillar EDI Guidelines based on X-12 and EDIFACT EDI Standards.
• Ability to determine the difference between X12 Standards Requirements and Caterpillar Implementation Requirements
• Ability to use SIMON and Sterling Integrator to research and determine current EDI capabilities of internal and external trading partners
• Ability to read, understand and document Mapping Requirements using Caterpillar Mapping Requirements Specifications (MRS) documents.
• Work closely with Caterpillar EDI Subject Matter Expert to make sure all designs adhere to approved design patterns as well as Caterpillar EDI Integration Patterns.
• Obtain Solution Design approval from Caterpillar EDI Subject Matter Experts before submitting any and all EDI solution designs.
Data Design Lead or Specialty Data Designer
• 5+ years of experience working with IBM Integration products
• Knowledge of the following products and how to apply them in various business scenarios:
o IBM BPM (both ESB side and Workflow side)
o IBM ODM (Business Rules)
o IBM DataPower
o IBM IIB
o IBM MQ
o Denodo
• Strong verbal and written communications to document detailed integration requirements from business partners, non-technical integration requesters, as well as ability to effectively collaborate with other Subject Matter Experts.
• Ability to lead and guide the development work to meet the designs and requirements
• Desire and ability to understand Caterpillar business
• General knowledge of the following IT concepts:
o SOA (Web Services)
o API Management
o Data Integration
o Data Virtualization

Data Project Assessment, Design and Development Coordination Services
Data Design Team will be responsible for gathering internal client requirements and creating Project Requirements Documents for data projects and solutions, creating Project Risk Assessments, creating Design Documents including Visio or flow diagrams, updating Project Folders (LAN Drive) with all required deliverables and supporting documentation, obtain design review/approval from Architects/Functional leads, and deliver / present the designs to development team for execution. The same resources may be employed to execute development activity as required by Caterpillar.
