Residential Counselor Adult - SUCCEED/Avenue 7:
Provide direct service to individuals with intellectual disabilities, within the community, residential/home setting, work, and/or school.
The SUCCEED Program supports young adults who are working towards or are enrolled in post-secondary education. Client needs range in physical location, intensity of supports provided, as well as number of weekly hours, and schedule. This direct service role exhibits commitment to the philosophy of community inclusion, self-determination, and individualized growth.
Avenue 7 offers transitional housing for 18-28 year-olds with an intellectual disability or autism, and who receive home and community-based services. The supportive residential community helps individuals gain the skills they need to live independently. Staff are available through the day to support skill building. The program is a partnership with the Burlington Housing Authority, and each person living at Avenue 7 leases their individual residence with the support of a Section 8 housing voucher.
Responsibilities:
Initiate constructive activities that address goals on a client's Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan)
Facilitate community inclusion, daily living, and skill acquisition
Utilization of sound judgement and maintenance of calm demeanor during crisis
Provide needed behavioral and/or mental health support
Provide needed personal and/or medical care
Requirements:
Experience in human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired
High School Degree or equivalent
Use of a personal vehicle and an acceptable driving record

Tuesday-Saturday 2PM-10PM
