Job Description

Design and engineer substation projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV, including AIS and/or GIS systems

Develop detailed design packages including:

General arrangements

One-line diagrams

Protection & control schematics (for P&C roles)

Wiring diagrams and cable schedules

Perform equipment sizing, selection, and specifications (transformers, breakers, relays, etc.)

Support studies such as grounding, lightning protection, and short circuit analysis

Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, field teams, and clients throughout the EPC lifecycle

Review vendor drawings and coordinate with procurement teams

Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and energization phases

Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC, utility standards)

Project Exposure:

Greenfield and brownfield substation expansions

Renewable interconnection projects (solar, wind, BESS)

Utility transmission upgrades and grid hardening initiatives

High-voltage EPC design-build projects

The Successful Applicant

A successful Substation Engineer should have:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

3-10+ years of substation engineering experience (utility, consulting, or EPC environment)

Experience with high-voltage systems (69kV-500kV)

Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar

Familiarity with protection relays (SEL, GE, ABB) for P&C-focused roles

Strong understanding of substation design standards and best practices

EIT or PE license is a plus
