Job Summary
The Chief Engineer oversees all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations of the hotel to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of facilities. Responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, energy management, and compliance with safety standards, the role leads the engineering team, manages budgets, and supports operational excellence to enhance guest satisfaction.
Oversee the overall technical management of the hotel property and facilities
Lead and manage preventative and reactive maintenance programs
Plan, supervise and execute all maintenance works and technical projects
Prepare and manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets, ensuring cost control and optimization
Liaise and negotiate with external suppliers, contractors, and technical service providers
Ensure full legal and regulatory compliance across all technical and safety requirements
Maintain proper documentation, reporting, and certification records
Collaborate closely with the General Manager and other department heads
Lead, motivate, and develop the maintenance team
Assess short- and long-term technical needs of the property and plan accordingly
Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements
Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry
Experience in an upscale or luxury hotel environment preferred
Strong knowledge of managing technical/engineering departments
Proven experience in budgeting (CAPEX & OPEX control)
Solid understanding of preventative maintenance systems and compliance requirements
Familiarity with relevant legislation and safety regulations to ensure full property compliance
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Resourceful, solution-oriented, and able to multitask effectively
Ability to manage both internal teams and external service providers
