Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Behavioral Health Mental Health Substance Use
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Department: Nursing – Return Program
Employment Type: Part Time (16 hours per week)
Schedule: 3PM - 11:30P, every other weekend required
Work Setting: Fully Onsite
Overview
The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a dependable and professional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our behavioral health nursing team within the Return Program. This program supports adults with psychiatric conditions, substance use disorders, and co occurring diagnoses in a structured, therapeutic environment focused on stabilization, recovery, and continuity of care.
This role is ideal for nurses who are experienced or interested in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and working within a multidisciplinary care team. The position offers consistent scheduling options and the opportunity to make a direct impact in a high acuity clinical setting.
Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care in a behavioral health setting
• Administer medications and monitor for effectiveness and adverse reactions
• Document patient care accurately in the Electronic Health Record
• Participate in crisis intervention and utilize de escalation techniques
• Supervise and support Mental Health Workers during assigned shifts
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and recovery goals
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and behavioral health professionals
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and procedures
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program required
• Active LPN license in Pennsylvania required
• At least 1 year of LPN experience preferred
• Behavioral health, psychiatric, or substance use experience strongly preferred
• CPR certification required
• CPI certification preferred
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite position within a behavioral health setting. The role requires the ability to remain calm and responsive in high pressure situations, including behavioral health emergencies and crisis intervention scenarios.
