GENERAL PURPOSE
The Part-time Building Services Operator is responsible for supporting the daily cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests and members. This position serves as a visible staff presence focused on facility upkeep, risk prevention, and customer service by performing routine cleaning, inspections, and minor maintenance tasks throughout the facility. The Building Services Operator plays a critical front-line role in identifying and addressing safety concerns, particularly in high-use areas such as locker rooms, restrooms, gyms, and common spaces, and communication of issues to the Recreation Facility Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs routine janitorial duties throughout the facility, including cleaning and restocking restrooms, and locker rooms, mopping and vacuuming floors, removing trash and debris in the building and on the grounds, and maintaining overall facility cleanliness.
Maintains a visible presence in common areas, locker rooms, gums, and high-traffic spaces to identify potential safety hazards, maintenance needs, or cleanliness concerns, taking appropriate action or reporting issues as needed.
Conducts routine inspections of locker rooms and restrooms at a minimum of once per hour during assigned shifts to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are consistently met.
Performs assigned cleaning, inspection, and organizational checklists throughout each shift, including opening and closing duties, to support facility operations and compliance with established standards.
Supports maintenance staff with minor repairs, painting, and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned, ensuring facility equipment and spaces remain in good working condition.
Assists with room setup and breakdown for daily programming, rentals, and special events, ensuring spaces are clean, organized, and ready for use.
Assists with inventory, stocking, and organization of cleaning supplies, equipment and storage areas to support efficient operations.
Interacts with guests and members in a professional and courteous manner, responding to questions and supporting a positive and welcoming environment.
Performs PlayGuard or other operational roles as assigned to support overall facility needs.
Provides support for recreation programs, events, and activities to ensure successful operations and participant experience.
May be assigned to Splash Island or other seasonal guest services roles as needed.
Performs additional duties or special projects as assigned to support departmental goals and operational efficiency.

While the RAC is generally open from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, this position may require work beyond these hours and on holidays.
