Job Summary:
The Coax Splicer-supports the construction, upgrade, and activation of HFC plant. This role is responsible for high-quality coax splicing, node segmentation support, plant conditioning, and ensuring the network meets SCTE, GO95/GO128, and client standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction & Splicing:
Perform coax splicing and hardline installations for 10G upgrades.
Install and splice trunk and distribution coax.
Support node splits, cascade reductions, and plant conditioning.
Replace legacy components to meet DOCSIS 3.1 / 10G standards.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
Perform forward and return sweep testing.
Verify MER, BER, upstream/downstream levels, and noise floor.
Identify and correct impairments impacting 10G readiness.
Documentation & As-Builts:
Complete accurate as-built documentation.
Submit photos, test results, and closeout documentation on time.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow GO95/GO128, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Maintain traffic control, PPE, and safe working practices.
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years coax splicing / HFC construction experience.
Experience with DOCSIS 3.1 plant and node segmentation.
Proficient with VIAVI, EXFO, Trilithic, or equivalent testers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with 10G, DAA, Remote PHY, or Node+0.
SCTE certifications preferred.
Physical & Work Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Comfortable working aloft and outdoors.
Nights, weekends, and extended hours as required.
Performance Expectations:
First-pass inspection approval.
Zero workmanship rework.
Timely and accurate documentation.
