Barrels Production Supervisor
Job purpose
Under direction of the barrel machining production supervisor perform diversified duties to include
sets up and maintains equipment in a process control, ensure systems run smoothly with little input from anyone else on site. Must have an eye for detail and strong working knowledge of their machines' capabilities.
Duties and responsibilities
· Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
· Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
· Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
· Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
· Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
· Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
· Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
· Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
· Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
Qualifications
· Proven experience as CNC operator
· Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
· Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
· Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
· A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
· Good communication abilities
· Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related; Mechanical Engineering preferred
· 5+ years of relevant professional engineering experience
· Strong CNC Machining experience (work holding, tooling, CAD/CAM, machine, etc)
· Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
· Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
· Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Working conditions
Exposure to shop elements making conditions less desirable than usually found in an office.
Physical requirements
Standing - 8 Hours per day (or more)
Walking - 6 to 8 Hours per day
Lifting (below shoulder) – 30 to 50 lbs. – frequently
Lifting (above shoulder) – 30 to 50 lbs. - frequently
Push/Pull – 30 to 50 lbs. – frequently
Stooping/kneeling/bending – 2 hours per day – occasionally
Must be able to consistently operate a productivity machine for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
