Job Summary:
The Summer Daycare Teacher is responsible for supervising and engaging school-age children during the summer program. This position plans and leads age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, coordinates and participates in field trips, and ensures a safe, structured, and positive environment. The role supports increased enrollment during summer months while maintaining compliance with daycare licensing and safety regulations.
Work Schedule:
Summer seasonal position
Daytime hours, Monday through Friday
Seasonal position is approximately mid May through middle of August
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise school-age children in accordance with state licensing staff-to-child ratios
Plan, organize, and lead daily educational, recreational, and enrichment activities
Coordinate and attend off-site field trips, ensuring proper supervision and safety procedures
Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom and activity environment
Monitor children's behavior and provide positive guidance and redirection
Ensure accurate attendance and head counts at all times, including during transitions and field trips
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and program leadership as needed
Follow all daycare policies, procedures and safety guidelines
Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents
Support teamwork and assist with other duties assigned
Qualifications:
Must meet MN DHS Rule 3 teacher requirements, including a background study clearance
Ability to plan and lead structured activities and group events
Strong supervision, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to maintain a positive and patient demeanor with children
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, push-pull, carry, reach above, and lift/lower:
Frequently: 1 - 50 lbs
Occasionally: 50 - 100 lbs
Must be able to work in all outdoor weather elements
