Job Description
Fork Union Military Academy seeks a full-time Maintenance Electrician (Journeyman) to perform skilled electrical work and support general campus maintenance operations. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems across dormitories, classrooms, athletic facilities, staff housing, and other Academy buildings. The role is primarily electrical in nature, while also assisting with general maintenance duties as needed. The employee will adhere to the mission of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Perform journeyman-level electrical work, including wiring, lighting, breakers, outlets, switches, panels, and fixtures.
Troubleshoot electrical issues and complete safe, timely repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance and document work completed through work orders or similar tracking.
Assist with general building maintenance, seasonal projects, and emergency response as needed.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly manner.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Active journeyman electrician license required; Virginia license preferred.
Commercial, institutional, residential, or campus electrical experience required.
Ability to read diagrams, schematics, and work orders preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
Physical/Work Conditions
Regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is performed indoors and outdoors and may include ladder work and occasional urgent response.
