Job Description:

The Department of Labor has embarked on a multi-year initiative to modernize the existing environment to a more current and cost effective distributed environment. As a result, many processes and procedures must be designed from scratch or re-designed to align with ITIL.

This position will be assigned to the 2nd shift Operations Manager. The primary duties will be to, under limited supervision, assist in monitoring the Computer Operations of Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL). Operates in a Data Center that operates 24X7X365 and provides state-wide services. monitors BPE/TPE transactions, all environmental, security, electrical and UPS systems. Monitors the network systems to ensure statewide access. Works with GDOL Facilities to support electrical power, HVAC, security, and fire detection/fire suppression systems. Works with vendors to maintain hardware and software systems. ensure all printed output is of high quality and defect free.

The Data Center consists of the following:

multiple AIX, LINUX, and Windows servers,

two Xerox DocuPrint 155 laser printers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of either a two-year certificate/degree from a college, university, or technical school in an Information Technology field or equivalent work experience in an Information Technology field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferences will be given to applicants that in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following skills:

Experience as Computer Operator in a large Data Center.

Experience with a Network Operations Center (NOC).

Experience with Production Control.

Experience with distributed servers running AIX, LINUX, and Windows.

Experience with Control-M.

Experience with TPE/BPE Manager.

Experience with security in a Data Center.

Experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) in a Data Center.

Experience with electrical power in a Data Center including generators and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).

Experience with a raised floor in a Data Center.

Experience with fire detection and fire suppression systems in a Data Center.

Experience with Change Management policies, procedures, and software.

Experience with Incident/Problem Management policies, procedures, and software.

Experience with Asset Management policies, procedures, and software.

Experience with Networks, such as LAN/WAN, MPLS, TCP/IP, and SNA.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Experience with automated job schedulers.

Experience with hardware/software maintenance contracts.

Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

Experience with State and/or Federal government. Budget Information
