Definition Under general supervision, is responsible for providing technical support in the use and operation of a variety of computer systems, applications and/or networks; performs related duties as required.

Examples of Work (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.) * Operates workstations, multiple servers, network devices, applications, monitoring systems, and printers; * Assists with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software; * Collaborates with team members to help troubleshoot and resolve technical problems involving technology related systems in infrastructure; * Provides technical support to users, such as password resets, basic user account administration, and basic user applications assistance; * Performs daily system start-up, backups, and maintenance procedures on designated systems; * Perform regular and routine upgrades to ensure systems remain updated; * Operates and monitors an enterprise network computer system; * Monitors enterprise system for connectivity and system alerts from monitoring software; logs, troubleshoots, responds to, and escalates alerts within systems; * Performs simple programming modifications using programming language; * Assists in developing basic computer applications using off-the-shelf software; may oversee inventory of computer hardware, software, and equipment; * Maintains accurate and detailed logs within the established ticketing system for customer calls and system alerts; * Assists in the identifying and resolving of system problems using manuals and supervisory instruction; * Performs or schedules preventive maintenance and repair work on computer equipment; * Loads and monitors tape drives; * Participates in all phases of computer operations, data back-ups, and data restoration; * Keeps weekly logs and critical status information; completes digital forms such as, shift status reports, and downtime logs; * Performs physical checks and walkthroughs of data center to ensure HVAC, pumps, and electrical systems and equipment are operational; * Monitors the internal security of the facility to ensure that only authorized personnel enter the area; escorts non-departmental individuals while in data center; receives and verifies deliveries.

Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience assisting in the installation, operation, and/or maintenance of computer information systems.

Substitution(s): College-level coursework (nine (9) semester hours or twelve (12) quarter hours) in a computer-related technology may be substituted for the experience requirement.

A certificate of completion from a recognized vocational program in a computer-related technology may be substituted for the experience requirement.

The examination process will consist of a computerized exam weighted 100% covering Reading Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning, Problem Sensitivity, Technology Knowledge and Terminology, Data Entry, Multi-Tasking, Matching, and 2019/2021 Word, Outlook, and Excel.

The exam is expected to be administered in May.

Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.

All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score.

The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years.

If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test.
