A Commercial and Box Truck Driver

operates vehicles, typically under 26,001 pounds (non-CDL) or larger (CDL-B), to transport goods locally or regionally. Key duties include loading/unloading cargo, performing pre/post-trip safety inspections, adhering to DOT regulations, maintaining accurate delivery logs, and providing professional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Safe Operation: Safely operate a commercial vehicle (box truck) in varying traffic and weather conditions.

Cargo Management: Load, unload, and secure cargo using equipment like dollies, pallet jacks, or lift-gates to prevent damage.

Inspections: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections (tires, lights, brakes, fuel).

Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation, including DOT logbooks, mileage logs, and cargo manifests.

Customer Service: Deliver goods on time and represent the company professionally, securing required signatures.

Compliance: Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and safety regulations.

Required Qualifications

License: Valid driver's license (CDL-B or Class A may be required based on vehicle weight or Hazmat, though many box trucks are non-CDL).

Record: Clean driving record with no major infractions.

Physical Strength: Ability to lift 50+ pounds consistently and handle physical loading.

Experience: Previous experience as a delivery or box truck driver preferred.

Skills: Strong communication skills and time-management abilities.

Common Qualifications/Physical Requirements

Must pass a DOT medical examination.

Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screenings.
