Onboarding Specialist (Part-Time)

Schedule: 20 hours/week (onsite)
Compensation: $25 – $33/hour
Overview
A growing organization in the Greater Waterbury area is seeking a detail-oriented Onboarding Specialist to support the new hire experience from offer acceptance through first day readiness. This role is critical in ensuring a smooth, compliant, and efficient onboarding process, particularly in a regulated environment where accuracy and timeliness are essential.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the full onboarding lifecycle from offer acceptance through first day readiness
Initiate and track background checks, ensuring timely completion and resolution of any discrepancies
Verify and maintain employee licensure, certifications, and credentials in compliance with regulatory requirements
Ensure completion and accuracy of all pre-employment documentation, including I-9s, tax forms, and compliance-related paperwork
Communicate onboarding requirements clearly to new hires and provide ongoing support throughout the process
Partner with HR, Compliance, and hiring managers to resolve onboarding and credentialing issues
Maintain accurate employee records within HRIS and internal tracking systems
Monitor expiration dates of licenses and certifications; coordinate renewals as needed
Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and organizational compliance standards
Generate onboarding, credentialing, and compliance-related reports as needed
Qualifications
Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
2–4 years of experience in HR, onboarding, credentialing, or compliance-related roles
Experience managing background checks and employment verification processes
Familiarity with licensure and certification tracking, preferably within a regulated environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare, education, or other regulated industries
Knowledge of employment laws and onboarding compliance requirements
HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR
